Marine jay hylton from Swadlincote in Derbyshire died on the Shatt al-Arab river, the main waterway
on the north eastern outskirts of Basra city. On Sunday 12th of November 2006, elements of the boat
group were conducting a routine patrol of the waterway, moving from south to north,As part of this
patrol, it was necessary to negotiate a number of areas where movement is constrained. One of these
points is a pontoon bridge.
While near the pontoon bridge, one of the rigid raiding craft came under attack from an improvised
explosive device and this killed Marine Hylton as well as causing 3 other marines to lose there
lives.
Jay who was divorced leaves behind to sons Joshua 16 and Nathan 13,
Mum and DAD Ann and Pat and brothers Darren and mick.
Jay was allways life and soul of the party and allways had a smile on his face when you were feeling
down he would be the one to pick you up.
Hundreds of people lined the streets on the day of his funeral to say goodbye in there own way it
showed how popular and liked Jay was.
Ill never forget his smiling face and allways think of him when i hear the Boyzone song ' No
Matter What ' he/we would allways sing his kareoke favourite.

As you know we went to Butlins at Skeggy we had a great time you would of loved it basically drinking all day and night.
Maria sneeked a bottle of Southern comfort into the club so we could have a toast to you.

Hows everything with you I bet you are probally in the pub already.
There switching Swad lights on tonight just been down there and the usuall fair rides are there for the kids and the stinking burger vans all you can smell is onions. ha ha
Watch out for them fireworks when they let em off mate that they dont land in your beer.
When went to the banger racing presentation Maria and her new mate Denise ( Matt Tylers mum ) were drinking southern comfort maria made her drink it just like you used to make Maria ' go on Ria just another one ' Denise was ever so bad the next day she didnt make work and cudnt eat or drink anything all day they kept drinking them and saying thats for Jay ha ha little did denise know how bad she was gonna be.
Have a great weekend mate im sure you have made loads of mates up there and I bet theres a few characters amoungst you all Just make sure you behave yourselves if you can.

Hi Craig, thanks for the comments on Michaels, I think anybody that enters the forces have to come from a certain breed where the sense of humour is concerned!!
I'm sure they are all up there together, having a laugh and causing mischief they deserve it, and they will certainly make heaven a better place!
